Branch Office Busy Lamp Fields
Your extension (A1) is located at office A, and you want to be able to monitor the status of an extension (B1) at office B. This requires a little bit of work, but can definitely be accomplished. Since setting this up requires registration of remote phones, it is not advised to have more than five extensions per office monitoring the other office’s extensions.
Create an extension at Office B (for the sake of this document we will refer to the ext as B2) and set it up as a remote extension
Log into the IP address for ext A1
Aastra Login: admin/22222
IP550 Login: admin/1234
Enter the registration information for ext B2 into the last line on the phone, then save settings and reboot the phone.
Aastra: Select Line 9 and under Basic SIP Authentication Settings populate the ext number in fields Screen Name 2, Phone Number, Caller ID, and Authentication Name; populate Password with the SIP password. Under Basic SIP Network Settings, enter the IP address for office B under Proxy Server and Registrar Server, ensuring that their respective ports are 5060.
IP550: Select Line 4 and under Basic SIP Authentication Settings populate the ext number in fields Screen Name, Phone Number, and Authentication Name; populate the Password field with the SIP password for the extension. Under Basic SIP Network Settings, enter the IP address for office B under Proxy Server and ensure that the Proxy Port is set to 5060.
Log into the IP address for ext A1 and navigate to the key settings page where you would like the Branch BLF to be created (softkeys, programmable keys, or even an attached Aastra expansion module).
Set the key Type to BLF
Under Label, enter a value that will be recognized
Under Value, enter the ext number for ext B1
Select the Line for the BLF to function with (9 for Aastra, 4 for IP550)
Save and restart the phone
Now ext A1 will be able to monitor the status of ext B1 based on the BLF key that is set in the phone.
